VSBA Capital Minor Works Fund South Oakleigh Secondary College delivers new well-being hub & offices in Oakleigh South, designed to support its users through functional, considered and context-responsive architecture.
About
The South Oakleigh Primary School Capital Works Fund (CWF) project transformed an underutilised internal area into a dedicated wellbeing office and sensory space designed to support the health, comfort and inclusion of students across the school community.
The new wellbeing office provides a private and welcoming environment for one-on-one conversations, student support services and confidential meetings. The space was designed to promote a sense of comfort, trust and accessibility, creating an environment where students and staff can connect in a calm and supportive setting.
Adjacent to the wellbeing office, the sensory space provides a therapeutic environment that supports emotional regulation, relaxation and engagement. The design incorporates soft finishes, adjustable lighting, acoustic treatments and sensory elements that stimulate touch, sight and sound, creating a flexible space that responds to the diverse needs of students.
Through thoughtful planning and an inclusive design approach, the project delivers a safe and supportive environment that enhances student wellbeing, encourages connection and provides valuable spaces for positive engagement within the wider school community.
