St Kilda Park Primary School
St Kilda Park Primary School delivers art room refurbishment in 68 Fitzroy St, St Kilda VIC 3182, designed to support its users through functional, considered and context-responsive architecture.
About
Delivered under the Victorian School Building Authority's (VSBA) Emergency Maintenance Program (EMP), this project addressed critical building defects resulting from stormwater ingress while improving the functionality and longevity of key teaching spaces. The EMP provides funding for urgent infrastructure works that mitigate health and safety risks where schools are unable to undertake the necessary rectification works independently.
The project focused on the refurbishment of the school's art room, kitchen and adjoining storerooms, where prolonged stormwater ingress had resulted in mould-affected floorboards and deterioration of the existing internal environment. A comprehensive upgrade to the stormwater drainage system was undertaken to eliminate the source of water ingress and protect the building from future damage.
Following the rectification works, the internal learning spaces were redesigned to better support contemporary educational needs. The art room and kitchen were reconfigured with new joinery, modern finishes and improved layouts, creating more functional, durable and engaging environments for students and staff.
The completed project not only resolved critical maintenance issues but also delivered renewed learning spaces that enhance safety, functionality and the long-term performance of the school's facilities.
