About
The Port Fairy Ambulance Station provides a contemporary, purpose-built facility designed to support the operational requirements of paramedics and the growing needs of the local community. Delivered as part of an ongoing program of ambulance station projects across Victoria, the facility combines a highly functional layout with a distinctive architectural identity.
The design prioritises efficiency, safety and staff wellbeing, incorporating practical amenities, kitchen and breakout areas, and dedicated resting quarters to create a supportive workplace environment for ambulance personnel. The internal planning reflects the demands of emergency response operations, providing a seamless and effective workflow for day-to-day activities.
A key architectural feature of the station is the garage, which serves as a prominent element of the building’s identity both day and night. The use of translucent polycarbonate cladding allows natural light to permeate the space during the day while creating a soft illuminated presence after dark. This considered material selection enhances visibility, character and durability while responding to the functional requirements of the facility.
The completed station delivers a balance of operational performance, architectural quality and user-focused design, providing Ambulance Victoria with a resilient and welcoming facility to support emergency services within the Port Fairy community.
