About
The Ferntree Gully Ambulance Station was designed to provide a highly functional emergency services facility that responds to the operational needs of paramedics while sensitively integrating with its natural surroundings. The design prioritised efficiency and practicality, ensuring a seamless workflow for staff while maintaining a strong architectural presence.
A key feature of the station is the use of translucent polycarbonate cladding to the garage, creating a warm and welcoming visual element that enhances the building’s identity both during the day and at night. The warm-toned external palette and considered material selections reflect the surrounding natural environment, allowing the facility to sit comfortably within its landscape setting.
The interior was designed to support the wellbeing and daily operations of paramedics, incorporating practical amenities, kitchen and breakout spaces, and dedicated resting quarters. The completed facility balances functionality, durability and architectural quality, providing a contemporary workplace for Ambulance Victoria.
